Clifton Pinder

M.A., Registered Provisional Psychologist

Clifton has been a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Alberta since 2025, with seven years prior counselling experience in British Columbia. He is now serving Edmonton, building on his experiences working in settings such as a hospital palliative care unit, a First Nation reserve, a K-12 school, and programs supporting high-risk youth. Clifton's diverse background includes roles as an army medical assistant and a Search & Rescue team member.

A devoted husband, father of five, and grandfather of eight, he brings a faith-based perspective, deep respect, and compassion for all to his practice. Clifton tailors his approach using evidence-based frameworks such as CBT, ACT, narrative therapy, and family systems therapy, creating safe space for clients to explore challenges and work toward goals.

About my practice

Individual Counselling

I work with children, youth, and adults using mindfulness based, attachment and trauma informed frameworks while using a variety of materials, techniques, and methods such as talk, movement, art, or play.

I am interested in supporting you to manage stress, be more productive, manage conflicts, explore goals, feel more balanced, live fully and with a sense of well-being and satisfaction. Whatever goal or concern you may have, I am here to discuss possibilities that could help you.

I have deep respect and compassion for anyone I work with, and I am happy to modify my approach to support your unique needs, values, hopes, and goals.

Couples

I enjoy working with couples. Relationships can be hard, and at times they involve painful or regrettable experiences that can be difficult to recover from. Sometime couples feel stuck or fall into patterns of criticism, blame, judgement, contempt, defensiveness, and other unhelpful reactions when overwhelmed. These patterns can fuel anger, resentment, or shame. It is possible to rebuild your relationship and reconnect more deeply and meaningfully than ever before, with openness, commitment, and guidance.

I can help you to identify problem areas, to evaluate and approach circumstances in new ways, and provide you with practical strategies. Are you ready to accept the challenge? I am here for you.

Families

Parenting is complex. You probably want your family to be safe, healthy, and resilient. You may long for mutual respect, trust, and commitment. You may desire more experiences of love, joy, and peace. Navigating individual and family needs is challenging with limited time, energy, capacity, and resources. How do you set expectations and boundaries, support growth and development, foster independence, create shared meaning, and establish shared values that contribute to family strength and belonging?

I can help your family to function and connect better by helping you to foster good communication, plan for active engagement, effectively resolve conflicts, and promote shared understanding, that ultimately leads closer to what you are hoping for.
